Best Bachata Couple! Choose your partner and sign up in advance. Each dancer must register individually and can only compete with one partner. This is not a Jack & Jill competition. No tricks/lifts or choreography. Simply social dancing! All levels welcomed. Come to compete, watch, cheer and have a great time!

The purpose of this competition is not to show off but promote camaraderie among dancers while challenging dancers to improve their dance skills and reward them for it!
This contest is for local residents of Hampton Roads only.
Only amateur dancers are allowed to participate. No professional dancers are allowed. (Professional dancers = anyone who has taught dance classes on a regular basis, past or present)
Lifts/tricks, choreography will result in disqualification. Improv social dancing only.
Registration: Couples must pre-register individually and compete on qualifying weeks to make the finals. Prepaid fee to enter. Only one partner allowed.
Judging is based on timing, technique, musicality, audience response, styling and connection.

Best Bachata Couple each receive:
1st Place Couple:
$100 cash, free Full Pass to BVSF, Free entrance to our events in January and February, Gift Card from Java Surf, 2 Entrees and a dessert from Tiki's Bar and Grill, and a bottle of wine from Virginia Beach Winery.
2nd Place:
$50 cash, Free entrance to our events in January, Gift Card from Java Surf, $15 gift card and tiki mug from Tiki's Bar and Grill, and a bottle of wine from Virginia Beach Winery.
3rd Place:
$25 cash, 1 Free event with guest, Gift Cards from Java Surf, Tiki's Bar and Grill, and a bottle of wine from Virginia Beach Winery.
Qualifying Round 1
Date: December 11th
Location: Virginia Beach Winery
Time: 8:00pm to 12:00am with Competition at 10:30pm
Details: Dancers must register in advance using the link.
All dance partners will dance 2 songs. After the dances, a panel of judges will select 3 couples to move on to the finals.
*Those selected to move on will not have to compete in Round 2. Couples not selected can still compete in Round 2. Come cheer on the other participants!
Qualifying Round 2
Date: December 18th
Location: Hot Tuna
Time: 8:00pm to 12:00am with Competition at 10:30pm

All dance partners will dance 2 songs. After the dances, a panel of judges will select 3 couples to move on to the finals.
*Any dancer who competed in Round 1 but didn't advance can still compete in Round 2!
Final Round!
Date: December 20th
Location: The Cardinal
Time: 9:00pm to 1:00am with Competition at 11:00pm
Details: You made it! Now it is time to shine and go for it all! Only 3 couples will place and win prizes in this final showcase.
All dance partners will dance part of 2 songs. After the first song, a panel of judges will select 3 couples to dance one final song to determine placement.
Then we will finally crown Hampton Roads Best Bachata Couple for 2025!
